You can’t go anywhere right now without hearing about TikTok, without seeing a TikTok, or without being in a TikTok. TikTok is everywhere! It even has its own Sirius XM radio station! TikTok is the next big thing in social media, and it’s safe to say, it is here to stay.
When a platform like TikTok comes along, it’s hard to ignore. Whether it’s the fun videos of dances, or a funny prank someone did, or even just an informational piece of bite-sized content that someone can watch and take with them, TikTok was made for the everyday person, and it is an adapt or be left behind type of platform.
Recently I attended a seminar that focused purely on the rise of TikTok and how it can help you and your business. The one thing that kept sticking out to me during the lesson was the term ‘Golden Age of TikTok’. That is how the speaker referenced the current climate of the platform. What did she mean exactly? Let’s break it down.
Much like the beginning days of Facebook, TikTok is seeing a rapid growth in users. Because so many people are using the platform, and it is free to use, TikTok is one of the absolute best tools to be using for your business. With constant changes being made to the Facebook and Instagram algorithm, the ability to organically reach consumers is harder than ever. In fact, there is less than 16% organic Facebook reach today, so businesses are having to put out large amounts of money in hopes of getting any eyes on their content at all. TikTok changes that narrative.
With TikTok, paid advertisements aren’t a necessity quite yet, so your business still has the ability to get great reach organically on the platform. That’s why it is crucial to you and your business to join now. TikTok is rapidly trending toward becoming a platform that your business will need, not want, but need to have in the future in order to reach potential clients. Need a little convincing? We’ve got that covered!
TikTok By The Numbers
- 73% of users made an online purchase because of TikTok
- There have been 10x more organic sales made on TikTok than any other social media platform
- Average Time Spent By Users Per Day:
- Facebook – 35 Minutes
- Instagram – 28 Minutes
- TikTok – 80 Minutes
The proof is in the pudding as they say. Users spend, on average, 45 more minutes per day on TikTok than they do the largest social media platform in the country. That is huge for businesses! The algorithm is another huge seller for TikTok. Rather than being solely based on whatever Facebook is feeling that day, TikTok bases their algorithm on a personalized experience. Whatever videos you are indulging in frequently and liking on a regular basis gives TikTok an idea of who you are and what you like; therefore, they will serve you more content like that. If your business happens to fall into an area that someone likes, then your video will be served to them regardless of age, location, race, or any other demographic factor.
We know that the most daunting part of TikTok is the content itself. Maybe you don’t want to lip-sync and dance around…we get it! We were scared at first, too! But TikTok is all about finding your niche. There are people on the platform that are looking for so many different ideas and topics, that you never know what may pull their attention. If someone is remodeling a house, they would probably love to see a home improvement store’s how-to videos. Or if someone is really into eating healthy and cooking, then they are probably going to enjoy videos where a farmer explains to them exactly what they’re consuming on a day to day basis. You never know what someone may enjoy, so you just have to put it out there! There is no telling where this platform can take you!
TikTok is one of those cultural phenomenons that showed up with a bang, and has only grown since. The good news about something like that is that your business can join in on the fun and grow with them. Just like Ke$ha said, “Tick-tock on the clock, but the party don’t stop”, and this party doesn’t show any signs of stopping anytime soon.
