Digital Marketing Trends you can’t ignore.

At least once a week I get asked “What’s new in digital? What’s next?” And those are totally fair questions. Digital advertising is constantly changing and new ways of reaching target consumers are continuously being added. Did you know we can target your potential customers on Amazon or that we can produce ads using your TikTok, SnapChat, Pinterest, and Linked In posts? So, while we are always looking to see what’s next there are a few digital marketing trends that you may or may not be already using and that you don’t want to ignore.

Artificial intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is quickly becoming my favorite way to target clients. In its simplest form, AI is showing your display or video ads to people across all devices, using machine learning to target consumers based on who is engaging with the ad.

It is important to understand the sole purpose behind this technology is to make marketing meaningful by predicting the potential of every moment, so that marketers can deliver amazing experiences that get real results. Sounds like a dream right?

So while AI is narrowing in on the ideal audience, it also assists in creating that personal experience that consumers want. People want to see ads that relate to them and this is all being led by these AI models and algorithms.

Live Chat

When introducing live chat to our customers it makes the most sense when explained as an extention of their customer service. I’m sure business owners would love to have someone available 24/7 to answer questions but that just isn’t possible with most businesses. Having live chat on a client’s website enables them to get more leads and engage with website visitors with LIVE, trained chat agents 24/7.

Ultimately, the primary goal of live chat is to enhance the user experience through a feedback-driven model that fosters higher engagement and greater loyalty.

Video Marketing

Video marketing is one of, if not the, most important marketing trend today and likely for the next 5-10 years. These numbers show the importance of incorporating video into your digital marketing strategy:

70% of consumers say that they have shared a brand’s video

72% of businesses say that video has improved their conversion rate

52% of consumers say that watching product videos makes them more confident in online purchase decisions

And don’t just think traditional video. There are plenty of ways to drive higher engagement with your video marketing, as you can make a video post or go live on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn. We also offer Youtube, OTT and Pre-roll as digital products.

Voice Search and Smart Speakers

The increasing use of voice search has made it important for companies to rethink their digital marketing strategies in 2020. Check out these numbers:

  • 55% of all American homes will own a smart speaker by 2022
  • 72% of people who own voice-activated speakers say that their devices are used as part of their daily routines
  • Voice shopping is set to jump to $40 billion in 2022, up from $2 billion today

Voice search plays an important role in providing all the relevant information that people are searching for through audio content. AI is getting smarter and the number of errors made by voice assistants like Alexa, Siri and Google has reduced greatly.

Growth of Geo-Fencing

While the idea of marketing to people based on their location is nothing new, we do expect an increase in the use of geo-fencing – this market is set to grow to $2.4 billion by 2023 – along with the rise of mobile use.

Geo-fencing allows real-time targeting based on a user’s location. Technically, geo-fencing can be any size radius from a particular location, anywhere from a mile to state-wide.  But most people when they are referring to geo-fencing are looking for a very tight radius around a location. Geo-fencing allows us to serve ads to a person inside the geo-fenced radius if they are browsing the web, to alert them of a local deal or the distance you are from a particular store location.

For industries that need to convert digital users into brick-and-mortar customers, geo-fencing is going to become more and more important in their marketing strategy.
