Making Your Website Responsive in 2016

Are you thinking about a website redesign in 2016? Have you heard about the importance of responsive web design? Often confused with mobile design, responsive design is an absolute must for your website. But, what is it?

It goes without saying that we live in a mobile world and in 2016, responsive design is going to be of the utmost importance. Responsive web design makes your website look either the same or similar on all devices. This includes desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. When a user accesses your site from one of the various platforms, your site will automatically adjust to the scale necessary to eliminate being cut off. The images, sidebars, videos and text will re-align to be contained in the device screen.

Responsive design shouldn’t be confused with mobile design. What is the difference? Mobile design is the process of creating a completely separate website for mobile devices. Not only is the website different, but at times the content of a mobile site is different as well. Responsive design is all about creating one site that adjusts to all devices, including mobile. It’s easy to forget that at times users may choose to visit your site from a desktop. If you only focus on mobile, then you may miss those consumers who surf the web from a range of screen sizes; sometimes at the same time!

The importance of having a responsive web design will never go away and will only become more important in the future as mobile views surpass desktop views. Why? The answer is simple. It’s all about delivering the best user experience, so in 2016, think responsive!
