Giving Back This Holiday Season

giveback

Large or small, every business is a part of the community in which it operates. When it comes to giving back, there are so many possibilities; so many that it may leave you scratching your head. Where do I begin? What works? What doesn’t work? From accepting and giving donations, to creative campaigns and more, we have a few ideas to kick off official “season of giving” and we want to share them with you.

Donate Products or Services

You’ve probably noticed the collection boxes that are popping up in locations around the area. This is a simple, yet effective way to encourage your customers to give back. Collect new or gently used toys, coats or even nonperishable food items. Incentivize even more by offering a discount to those who donate.

Round It Up

Encourage your shoppers, customers, diners to round their total up to the nearest dollar amount or add to their total. Take all of the additional proceeds and donate to the organization of your choice. You could even donate a percentage of your proceeds over a given period.

Shop Local Events

At Rethink Media Group, we are part of a small community. A community where the small businesses are the “bread and butter” of our area economy. We are noticing a growing trend in “Shop Local” events. Participate in “Shop Local” events in your own community to help stimulate your local economy. How about a Christmas shopping/dining event? Remind the community of the importance of shopping local!

Bring In The Big Guy

Santa, of course! Host an event where families can come and visit Santa. Offer cookies, hot chocolate and maybe an exclusive discount. Make the event open to the public and free with a donation to the organization of your choice. We are currently working with one of our clients on a Cocoa with Claus event! Check back for a follow up blog highlighting the success of the event, so that you can get inspired to host one of your own!

Ring The Bells

Encourage your employees to come together and donate their time to ring bells for the Salvation Army. It only takes two hours and is a simple way to give back, as well as interact with the community. Visit ringbells.org for opportunities near you.

In what ways are you giving back this holiday season? Planning a unique holiday event? Tell us about it!
